Tennis

Tennis here at NPGHS provides the top five-six players to represent the school at a National Secondary Schools competition, held in Summer Tournament week during Term 1. Competitive tennis players can play in the TSSSA Tennis competition. The top 6-8 tennis players will pay interschool tennis competitions against Wanganui Collegiate and Palmerston North Girls’ High School, on a home and away schedule.

Competitive players can receive professional coaching on Tuesday morning before school at a very reasonable cost including playing in the School Championships, where trophies are awarded to the Senior and Junior Champions (Term 1). Social tennis and Beginner coaching are available for students after school once a week during Term 1.

Any student wishing to play can use the turf courts during lunchtimes (Term 1 and 4).

Venue: NPGHS four artificial turf courts and other venues to be decided annually
Uniform: School provides competitive players with a skort, singlet, warm-up top and hoodie. Each player needs to provide tracksuit pants and their own tennis equipment. The school will provide tennis balls for all competitions. Social tennis players can use school rackets and tennis balls.
