CHARTER & GOALS -
Last year we revised our Charter and simplified it greatly. We enclose a copy for you. It outlines the opportunities we offer, the values and principles we support. We hope all our students will gain academic success, and develop their talents in Arts, Sport and social aspects, will look at helping others. We expect our girls to be honest, responsible, open and accountable for their actions and will encourage them to be kind, cheerful and resilient, able to bounce back when things go wrong.
WORK ETHIC -
To bring success students need to develop a commitment to their school work
These are the keys to doing well. Parents can help enormously by supporting girls in meeting these targets.
APOLOGIES - There was a major omission in the School Magazine Report of the Senior Prizegiving and Rebecca Dobson’s name was missed:
She was First in Biology First in Geography First in Maths (shared)
I am very sorry about the omission and congratulate Rebecca on these wonderful results.
EXAM RESULTS -
Our exam results were very pleasing with some stunningly good results in some areas. School Certificate Spanish had 100% pass rate and all except one student gained an A pass – the other a high B. German too, had excellent results – 100% pass rate and a high proportion of very good marks. Maths gained 36 A passes, an excellent result. Music, Art and English were other spectacular areas. Practical English at Year 11 and Year 12 gained 100% pass rate.
In Form 7 we gained 9 Scholarship-level marks. 3 in Painting, 2 in Accounting and 1 each in English, Classics, Statistics, Calculus. A further 8 students missed scholarships by one mark….
We gained 75 Bursaries, 112 students sat 5 subjects and 110 gained University Entrance.

With Epsom, NPGHS and Napier tied with two wins a piece, the cup was decided on net runs per wicket. NPGHS had 6.57, Epsom 3.57 and Napier –1.24.
Rachel Priest was named player of the tournament with 92 runs, 5 catches and 1 stumping. Other players to perform were Aimee Mason 116 runs, 6 wickets for 57 runs and 2 catches. All Year 9 classes will have a 1-night 2-day camp at Te Wera in Week 3 – from February 11 – 17. Girls have had the information and been asked to return the permission slip by February 2nd.
BEES -
Brian Garrett, one of our property staff, has made an observation hive in the upstairs laboratory MB11. Bees come in a tunnel which passes – sealed – through the window. We can watch them building their combs, store royal jelly, lay eggs, feed larvae, cap honey cells and much more. To identify and watch the Queen bee is really interesting. There is no way that the bees can get into the classroom, and their flight path is high above heads. If any of you are concerned, you are welcome to come and look and talk about it.
STANDARDS -
We are very proud of our school and of the achievement of our students. We work very hard to encourage this pride in our students too and to ensure that it shows
A key rule is that NO STUDENT should leave the school grounds during the day without the appropriate pass.
