New Plymouth Girls' High School 1st XI Football team won the secondary schools girls knock-out tournament on Sunday at Merrilands Domain in cold, wet conditions. This game was closely contested with Sacred Heart 1st XI with the score even at 1-all at half time. Amelia Riddick scored our goal in the first half with Michaela Blyde slaming the ball into the net midway through the second half to make it 2-1. Sacred Heart challenged them at every opportunity but our girls defence held and were deserving winners.
