The 2011 Taranaki Careers Expo

The Taranaki Careers Expo will have representatives from many career areas and tertiary training institutions. This is another excellent opportunity for NPGHS students, parents and caregivers to get the most up to date careers information available. We will bus Year 12 students to the Careers Expo on Monday 22 August during spell 2. This will be at no cost to the students with fares being paid for by the Taranaki Expo Trust. Year 9, 10, 11 and 13 students are encouraged to attend with their parents and/or caregivers on Sunday 21 August.

Fees and Allowances tertiary study assistance for 2012

Information and Registration for Fees and Allowances can be accessed online at www.studylink.govt.nz.

STAR and Gateway 2012

Senior students still have the opportunity to enrol in timetabled STAR or Gateway programmes as part of their timetabled subject programme in 2012.

STAR Classroom Programmes provide the opportunity for our senior students to explore specific vocational areas and gain NZQA qualifications. Availability is dependent on the vocational training courses we are able to access to meet student needs. We attempt to meet all student requests.

The Gateway programme enables senior students to begin workplace training and qualifications for a specific career area while still at school. Students on this programme are in the workplace up to one day a week and in their timetabled classes at school for the remainder of their studies.

Further Student Career Development Assistance

Information is always available from the NPGHS Careers Department. Ms Kimiora Taite, our Careers Administrator, can put you in touch with the appropriate member of our Careers Team.

Please speak to Kimiora to make an appointment to speak to a Careers Department staff member for anything you may need to know or require clarification on. We look forward to assisting your daughter in whatever way we can with their career development.
