Curriculum
Year 9
All students will study all eight Learning Areas:
English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Health and Physical Education, Languages, The Arts and Technology
With some Learning Areas there will be a choice between subjects:
Languages (French, Spanish, Te Reo Māori, ESOL (English for Speakers of other Languages) or Literacy), The Arts (Dance, Drama, Music or Visual Arts), Technology (Digital Technology, Design Technology, Textiles Technology, Bio Technology, or Graphics)
Year 10
All students will study seven Learning Areas:
English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Health and Physical Education, The Arts and Technology
Within some Learning Areas there will be a choice between subjects:
The Arts (Drama or Visual Arts), Technology (Digital Technology, Bio Technology, or Graphics)
Students will also have the choice of two of the following options (but cannot repeat a subject already selected from the compulsory Learning Areas):
Agriculture and Horticulture, Business Studies, Sports Education, Food and Nutrition, French, Spanish, Te Reo Māori, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), Literacy, Dance, Music, Design Technology, Textiles Technology or Computer Skills
Year 11
Year 11 students will select SIX subjects.
Compulsory Subjects: English, Mathematics and a Science
Year 12
Year 12 students will select SIX subjects
Compulsory Subject: English
Year 13
Year 13 students will select a full course of FIVE subjects
